ACTIVITIES FOR PEOPLE WITH MOBILITY CHALLENGES

Picture
Silver City and the surrounding areas are welcoming to everyone, no matter the level of mobility. In fact, our Mayor has dubbed Silver City – the City of Unconditional Love.

If you have limited mobility, there are plenty of things to see, do and explore. Consider the following:
  • Visit the City of Rocks State Park for a scenic ride or night sky viewing
  • Rent an electric bike from Gila Hike & Bike and cruise around downtown or some of the easier mountain bike trails from town
  • Explore the Silver City Museum and learn more about the rich and diverse cultural heritage of southwestern New Mexico
  • Drive the Trail of the Mountain Spirits
  • Enjoy cultural experiences at Western New Mexico University
  • Catch a show at the Silco Theater
  • Watch the annual Tour of the Gila as world-class cyclists ride through Downtown Silver City
  • Stay at many of the unique local inns and guest houses and enjoy the serenity, the views and our dark skies
  • Visit Historic Downtown. Many of the galleries and stores are handicapped accessible
Most of the restaurants downtown cater to people with limited mobility.

For lodging, most of the inns and lodges cater to people with limited mobility as do the national chain hotels.
